Regular supply of alphonso mangoes from the Konkan region has hit the market from this week with 10,000 to 12,000 crates arriving daily at Vashi's APMC wholesale yard. Supplies from Sindhudurg dominate the market and are hovering in the range of Rs 1,500 to Rs 4,000.

7,000 to 8,000 boxes of alphonso from Konkan and 4,000 to 5,000 boxes of mangoes from Karnataka and Kerala are arriving at the market daily. Traders have advised that buyers should be cautious while buying Alphonsi. In the market, other varieties of mango are being sold, from Ratnagiri and Devgad.

The IMD has issued a 'red alert' for south Konkan, Goa and south central Maharashtra. Orange alert for north central Maharashtra, east Vidarbha and west Vidarbhas for next two days. The alert came as the Panchganga river level in Kolhapur was just seven feet short of the warning mark.

A cyclonic circulation lies over Bangladesh & neighbourhood and extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting south westwards with height. The IMD has also warned of enhanced rainfall activity likely over Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, coastal Karnataka, and Mahe.
