Amritpal Singh is on the run while his 78 supporters have been arrested by the state police in a day-long crackdown. The elusive preacher himself gave the police a slip and escaped their dragnet when his cavalcade was intercepted in the state. A massive manhunt has been launched against elements of 'Waris Punjab De' (WPD) headed by Singh.

Former Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu is serving a one-year jail term in a road rage case. Sidhu accused fellow inmates of misusing his cash card, following which three of them have been shifted elsewhere in the Patiala prison. The prisoners alleged that Sidhu used harsh words against them, a jail official said.
Mohali senior deputy mayor Amrik Singh Somal and deputy mayor Kuljeet Singh Bedi expelled for anti-party activities. Somal defeated Mohali MLA Kulwant Singh in the civic body elections held in ward number 42. Mohali mayor Amarjeet Sidhu, and his brother Balbir Singh Sidhu had joined the BJP last month.
