The board of control for cricket in India has selected 20 players for the ICC World Cup 2023, which will take place in india in October. The meeting was attended by BCCI president Roger Binny, secretary Jay Shah, Indian captain Rohit Sharma, head of cricket at the NCA VVS Laxman and Chairman of Senior Men Selection Committee Chetan Sharma. Keeping the World Cup in mind 20 players have been shortlisted.
Roger Binny has reacted to Shahid Afridi's claim that the ICC is biased towards Indian cricket. The match between India and Bangladesh came under the scanner when the match was resumed after the rain break. Some members of the cricket fraternity and fans felt that the umpire made a hurry to restart the match on the wet outfield.
Pakistan journalist alleged that ICC tends to favour India in multi-nation events. Former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi's comment created quite a stir in world cricket. ICC chief Roger Binny gave a hard-hitting reply to the allegations on Friday. The comments were based on the Shakib Al Hasan episode during the match.
Roger Binny was unveiled as BCCI president in Bengaluru on Thursday. Binny said domestic players are looked after well by the BCCI. He also spoke of raising the standard of pitches across the country. The former India allrounder also said that he would not interfere with the selectors.
Roger Binny said that the government has to clear which country the Indian team travels to and the board can't take decisions on its own. The BCCI had made it clear on Tuesday that India won’t go across the border for the 2023 Asia Cup and it is now likely to be held at a neutral venue.
